I packed up the GT and headed to the Yankee Beemers Damn Yankee's Rally in Heath, MA this weekend. I've enjoyed this rally several times over the years. I usually go there on my own.
But a cloud of melancholy hung over this weekend's ride.
My long time partner and I recently parted ways. And I felt his absence as I cranked the GT through its paces in the Green Mountains. No bank of lights trailing in my rear view.. It took us a hard year to learn to ride together. But that damn Road King could hold its own in the twisties of Vermont.
Kevin and I met because we rode. In the winter. In New England Weather.
We shared an affinity for being on the road. We shared an absurd about of soaking wet miles.
But in the long run motorcycling wasn't a strong enough glue for us. And it's back to ridng solo. I always relished my solo rides. But I'm going to miss my riding partner.
Ride Safe Big Guy.
